A little addition to this weatherboard cottage, but a big win for the family living in it. Just one extra bedroom & bathroom + a master ensuite and walk-in-robe for the parents, enough to see them through a few more years of growing teenage boys.

Re-working the layout gave the kids their own zone, with a bit of privacy but still plenty of connection to the outdoors and natural light throughout the day.

The new addition stands out with shou sugi ban timber cladding, while a north-facing lightwell in silver top ash brings a lovely contrast and floods the interior with light. Raked ceilings echo the pitched roofline inside, giving the whole space an even bigger sense of scale.
