A young family with three little ones, but they were already thinking ahead. This home needed room to grow with the family through the teenage years and beyond, with enough flexibility to allow for future multi-generational living as well as working from home. This extension had a comprehensive brief and the original house needed a bit of love too.

At its heart, though, the design centres on the kitchen, living and dining spaces, all flowing out to the alfresco and pool for easy indoor-outdoor living.

Light was a big focus too, especially making sure the south-west extension stays bright throughout the day. A two-storey skylight void and glass stairwell mark the join between old and new, and do double duty bringing extra light into this heritage home.

Inside carries the same relaxed, neutral palette as the exterior, with finishes chosen to keep the whole place feeling warm and easy to live in.
